Literature Text

Time passed and Garra and Eliza became close friends. They would go out and play together everyday and Garra was never the happier.
On one particular day Garra was showing Eliza around the town. Garra hated how people went out of their way to avoid them but he didn't understand why they were worse than they used to be. He noticed that Eliza had discovered this too. "I'm sorry" Garra apologized "This is my entire fault" he felt so guilty that Eliza couldn't enjoy the fullness of city life due to his inner demon.
Eliza merely blinked at him "No it's not"
Sighing Garra explained "yes it is" he looked down at his hands "it's because of what I can do…I'm a monster."
"You don't look like a monster" Eliza tilted her head innocently. Garra stared at her dumbfounded. Eliza took his hands in hers and studied them for a small while "Hmm…nope" then she grabbed his ears.
"Hey!" Garra protested.
"Nuh uh" she shook her head then tweaked his nose.
"Ow!" Garra grabbed his nose. "What was that for?"
"You can't be a monster Garra. You have two hands, two ears, one nose, and the sweetest personality. However could you be a monster?" Eliza smiled at him.
Garra's face suddenly lit up in a smile before he grabbed Eliza's hand "C'mon I want to show you something."

[Eliza POV]

Garra led Eliza to a large sand dune just outside of the village. There he had Eliza sit down while he backed up and took a deep breath "Don't get scared now" Garra told her. Eliza nodded smiling knowing just how ironic that statement was. Garra smiled back then took another deep breath before concentrating.
Feeling each grain around him as he forced it to rise into the air above both him and Eliza.
Eliza gasped at the spectacle amazed at its beauty as the sands floated above them, flat like paper but translucent. "This is amazing Garra!" Eliza cried as she flung herself at him breaking his concentration and allowing all of the sand to come down on them. The two then sat up and laughed.
"You really think so?" Garra asked.
"Yeah!"
"I've been practicing for awhile now but Yashamaru doesn't know. You won't tell her will you?" Garra looked concerned.
"No I wont" Eliza looked at her feet "but only if you don't tell her what I'm about to show you."
"Okay" he agreed.
"So you know how I always have to 'run errands' every other morning?"
"Yeah"
"Well in actuality I'm going to a lab. You're not the only one with a strange power. But mine is much more deadly and unpredictable, the medical ninja there are training me to control it." Eliza explained.
"What kind of power is it?" Garra questioned.
Eliza hesitated for a moment before answering "I can make peoples worst fears come alive. Just by touching a person once I know what they are most afraid of and what makes them sad then I'm able to produce the fear using my chakra without making any hand signs or anything."
"So then…you know what I'm afraid of?" Garra realized.
Eliza nodded "But don't worry! I wouldn't ever try to hurt you"
Garra smiled "I'd never hurt you either Eliza" he took her hand. "Will you show me your power?"
Eliza hesitated for a moment but then agreed "Stand back though; I don't want you to get hurt." Backing away Garra watched as Eliza closed her eyes and began to focus. She shut out Garra's consciousness and focused instead on the consciousness of a ninja she often spared against in the lab. Envisioning her fear of rats in her mind, Eliza opened her eyes to see a large black rat, about the size of a dog standing before her. It had huge white teeth and a nasty pink tail. Eliza focused hard to keep the rat in place for as long as possible.
"That's incredible Eliza!" Garra clapped.
Struck free of her concentration the rat charged towards Garra fangs barred. "No!" Eliza cried trying to regain control, trying to envision it disappearing. It was too late however and a cry could be heard as the rat pounced on it's pray. "STOP!" Eliza cried, suddenly the rat shattered and in its place a dome of sand stood.
"Garra?" Eliza cried running up to it. "Garra I'm sorry! I'm so sorry!" she sobbed kneeling before the sand dome.
"Its okay" came his voice. Eliza looked up to see standing before her, sand pooling around him "you lost control, it happens to me all the time. I guess it's a good thing the sand protects me huh?" Garra beamed down at her.
"Oh Garra!" Eliza stood and hugged him. "I thought I'd hurt you."
"It's okay" Garra hugged back. "We just have to practice more is all. We'll get stronger, together."
Eliza looked up at him "alright, lets do it."
